The first ever leo club in Sri Lanka was established in Wattala, under the sponsorship of Wattala lions club in 1969. Today leo movement has completed 40 years in Sri Lanka. In it's lifespan leo movement has prodiced many leaders including lion leaders , business giants and community leaders.

Today the leo movement is an island wide movement with 150 leo clubs. In celebration of the outstanding service rendered to the society by Leo club, leo multiple district is organizing a special celebration of the 40 years anniversary. "Celebrating 40 years of excellence" would be the tag line of this program. IPDP Leo Thirupparan
